Carry a bundle of essential software in your flash drive

When you are on move and carrying important data in your flash drive, then you should have the portable version of essential software like Anti-Virus, Office, Password Manager, Browser, PDF reader with you.


PortableApps is a free bundle application which will help you in managing the portable version of software in a flash drive. Once you install the “Portable Apps” (size ~ 35MB for light bundle ) in your flash drive, a pop-up will appear which will show you the list of portable software which you are carrying the flash drive. I installed the Light application of PortableApps which is having
Mozilla Firefox (browser),
Thunderbird (email),
Sunbird (calendar / task),
Clamwin (Anti-Virus),
KeePass (Password manager)
Sumatra PDF (PDF Reader)
Sudoku (Game)
Cool Player (Audio Player)
AbiWord (Word Processor)
Mines Perfect (Game)
Pidgin (Instant Messaging)
Open Office.org (If you go for the standard download, you will get this in your flash drive otherwise you will have to install this platform separately)
You can install any other portable software in your flash drive using PortableApps. It will automatically add that software in the PortableApps menu.

Installation Procedure for PortableApps
Download the Platform or Suit as per your choice
Click on the downloaded .exe file and you will get the below mentioned screen where you will have to locate your flash drive. In my case it was G:,



Click on the Install button and wait for the installation to complete. It will take around 4 minutes (in case of light bundle) to get completed.
You can see the space required as 94.8MB for Light suite, it means you should go for the light suite only if you are having a flash drive with more than 256MB space.
Once the installation get completed, the pop-up menu mentioned at the start of the post will appear which will have the menu of the software installed in your portable flash drive.
Now you can carry the portable software with yourself in a that flash drive.

How To Find Windows XP Product Key Inside Original CD

Sometimes we forget or misplace the hardcopy of product key of our software like Windows XP which is provided on a sticker inside the CD pack and that time we need to find out the product key for installation. If you are going thru the same problem then no need to worry at all. Microsoft always provides the Product Key inside the installation CD.

To find the Installation Product Key of Windows XP, follow the below steps,

1. Insert the CD into CD Drive

2. Open the CD and then move into the folder named as “i386”

3. Now open the file UNATTEND.txt to see the Product Key of your Windows XP

4. Note Down the Product key and start using it at the time of installation

You can go thru post where we have explained how to create unattended installation CD for Windows XP and Vista where you can store your product key so that you don’t need to enter it manually at the time of installation. So this is how to find the installation product key of windows XP on your own XP CD.

Create Unattended Installation Setup For Windows XP & Vista

There are lot many things to enter at the time of windows installation on PC. Starting from Time Zone, Profile ID, Product Key etc. But if you want to create an installation setup for windows XP or Vista where you don’t need to enter anything at the time of installation, then here is the solution for that.

First of all we will start with creating a Windows XP unattended installation CD and then we will talk about Windows Vista.

Windows XP Installation Pack:

For creating windows XP setup CD which will start running till the complete installation without asking any details from you then use nLite It is a free software for tweaking and customizing the windows installation setup as per your comfort. Follow the below mentioned steps to create an unattended installation setup CD for windows XP,

1. Download nLite from here

2. Install the software on your PC

3. Copy the distribution CD of windows XP on your machine in a new folder say “Windows_XP_Unattended” (you can go for any other name as well).

4. Start nLite on your PC. You will see the below mentioned welcome screen.

5. Click on the “Next” button. Now locate the folder containing windows XP distribution pack. For my case, it is “Windows_XP_Unattended” .  Click on “Next”.

6. Click on “Next” if you don’t want to import any previous setting.

7. Now you are on “Task Selection” window where you need to click on “Unattended” and “Bootable ISO” options from the list. Other options are explained at the end of this post.

8. Click on “Next” button. Now you are on the “Unattended” window thru which you can provide the information related to your windows installation so that you don’t need to do that at the time of installation.

9. Enter the details like Product Key,  Unattended Mode (Fully Automated), Firewall, User Info, Desktop themes, Network Settings etc.

10. Click on next to burn the CD. Start burning the data on CD. You are done with the Installation Pack CD for windows XP. Go ahead and start installation on your PC and forget about that for half an hour. Come back to your PC and enjoy fully installed Windows.

Windows Vista Installation Pack

vLite is for Windows Vista to create an unattended Installation setup DVD. It can also split the setup DVD into several CDs. Procedure for creating an unattended installation cd pack for Vista is similar to Windows XP

Other options available are as below,

1. Integrate Drivers of you motherboard, Printers etc with the Installation pack so that you don’t need to even install the drivers after installation of windows.

2. Add updates into your installation pack. Updates related to windows like IE7, Latest MSN messenger etc.

3. Add Service Pack in the installation pack.

4. Tweak the registry at the time of installation for more customization.

Unattended installation packs are very useful in case of bulk installation. It can also be used for those who are not familiar or afraid of installation of windows on their computer.

Change the software of idea netsetter

By Following steps below you can change the software of idea netsetter .

1.To change the software you have to download a software called Dashboard update.

You will see a window showing the agreement

3.Then press next.

Then you will see a new window indicating that you are updating the software.

3.Press next

Then you will see a warning message

4.Press next and complete updating.
